Meta agreed to pay $16.7 billion to California and other states to settle claims that its social media apps were designed to be addictive and harmed young people's mental health.
I don't put all the blame on the platform. There have always been forces putting pressure on kids' mental health. The more important stabilizing forces are closer to home. And as far as the constraints Meta will be putting on the accounts of those 13-16 years old, there are so many workarounds that I don't think they'll have much impact. Worth a try, though, I guess.
