Do large nationwide protests like the 'No Kings' marches actually change government policy?

Nationwide 'No Kings' protests opposing President Trump have drawn large crowds across the U.S. over the past year.

Not policy usually, but they focus voters on the issue

WHAT issue, though? "No Kings" is just a personality-cult rage-fest, it doesn't have any actual demands. Just as the DHS umbrella is "security theater", this is "activism theater". The goal is to prevent policy-change by giving participants the warm fuzzy illusion of having accomplished something.

I don't know if they do, but they certainly are cathartic. And they can't hurt.

They certainly can! It's called 'wasting time, energy, and attention on things designed to go nowhere'. It's a trap, possibly even a psyop.
