Four legs good, guns baaaad. Always the media tries to define the gun debate with a single story, and to hell with reporting any instances where a gun is used to save lives by a legal gun owner (which is a daily occurrence). And always there’s the knee-jerk reaction among some folks. There are over 400 million legally purchased firearms in this country, if the average American gun owner was the problem, it would be a whole lot bigger. Bill Clinton advised the democrats years ago to stay away from gun control to avoid pissing off these average Americans and getting whipped in elections for it……good advice

To be fair, though, the father in Bend Oregon is getting some good media coverage this week :)

Yes, but we’re only 24 hours post-fact. I hope I’m wrong but I’d be surprised if we hear any more of this one, even though it raises a very important issue: my understanding is that the shotgun used was recently legally purchased and given to the kid by his mother. This is bigger than a gun issue…..the fact is there are some people that are so stupid they simply shouldn’t be allowed to have/do things that can hurt others if not handled responsibly: guns, cars, propane tanks, a match, an FCC broadcast license. A guy a couple of years ago filmed himself baling out of a perfectly good airplane just for online “hits”. People like this shouldn’t be allowed to feed a dog, but their irresponsible behavior shouldn’t affect the rights of others.

There's nothing that can be done says the only country where this just keeps happening We have yet to see the magical day where the second amendment saves the country from a tyrant, or well anything come to think of it. But wow have we seen the cost of an armed populace over and over again And wow the costs of bartering the mental and physical health of the populace for the enrichment of a few is another American choice that just keeps paying dividends to the rich and sorrow to the nation

Stricter gun laws, better mental health services, and a Constitutional Amendment striking the Second Amendment and replacing it with something far more restrictive.

All of the above.

If it's a family member pulling the trigger, armed security at the mall doesn't help. So what's the plan for violence that starts at the kitchen table?
